Lights

We finally finished putting up lights. We keep adding more lights each year. I can't wait to see what deals on lights I can get the day after Christmas, so we can add to our house next year. Anyone know of some good place to see lights?

It's starting to look like Christmas

We got our tree in Monday night an put it up on Wednesday. It is decorated and just needs presents under the tree. Most of them are wrapped already. I'm almost done Christmas shopping. Just a few more things. Two of the gifts are homemade and are very time consuming. I'll post pics of what is taking up all of my time. But it's so worth it;). Happy Holidays everyone.

My Safeway trip

So pleased with myself. Before my coupons and Safeway card my total would have been $132.34. But since I'm trying to be super savy my total was $63.77. Yeah! That's a 52% savings. I stocked up on some of our favorite items. Rule #2 Buy your items at the lowest price you can find and stock up then. Simple, huh?

Shopping deal (at least I think so)

So I really looked at the ads the this week to get the best deals on my groceries. I went to Food Source today and spent $16.35. I got (10) Dannon yogurts (2) trix cereals and (2) Scott bath tissues each with 12 double rolls. (Its like I got 48 rolls.) I used (4) $1.00 coupons. I'm pretty pleased with my deal. Each yogurt cost $0.35. Each package of bath tissue was $3.99. The cereal was $2.00 a box. All the items were on sale.

Rule #1 make your list first before looking at the ads. Otherwise you might spend more money on items you'll never use.

Really????

So Brianna started preschool a few weeks ago. I'm so glad that she loves it. There are some of the kids that were in her class last year. It's always nice to see a familiar face. I always hated starting school for the new year. So much stress.

We are finishing up our third week of school with a trip to Fairytale town. I can't believe that it's been three weeks since school started. Things are finally settling down. Even though everyday she goes to school causes some anxiety for me. Not her actually being there, but getting her there. It's so hard when Dylan has to be added into the equation. I had to cut out her swim lessons, because I thought I was going to lose my mind. I was very close to a melt down. I've been feeling like I'm being pulled into a million directions. Dylan has a ton of therapies at home which requires someone to be here. Plus he doesn't wake up when I need to take Brianna to school or other activities. It makes my life really difficult. I should be use to it now. I mean he is 6. Sometimes I feel like I am a prisoner in my own house. My life revolves around Dylan and his schedule. It should have ended a long time ago when he was little but of course with our situation it didn't. I don't think people really get what sacrifices our family has to make. I've been told that our family seems like we have it all together. I guess we've had to, but it would be great if someone would help. Occasionally, I've been asked what someone can do to help. I always answer I don't know. I really do know the answer but could never tell them. I'm not a liar, I just can't let the perception that I have it all together be lost. It's definitely NOT an everyday occurrence that I get asked. I do tell some people!

Wow, I got off topic. Back to Brianna, she has been talking a lot about a boy in her class whose name will not be given. I thought it was bad last year when she talked about another little boy in her class. she met this boy 3 weeks ago. She told me that he kissed her the other day. They are 4! It's funny but then it's not. I grew up with the boy's father so do I talk to the parents or not? Is it just kids being kids? Is it harmless? I know it probably is, but I remember what I was like when I was a kid when it came to boys. That scares me. She also informed me that she and him will marry each other when they are a little older. So what do you readers think?

Running and some more running

So I've already done 3 half marathons this year. I am planning on doing one in November. After much thought and discussing it with Kalen, I think I'm going to do the full marathon instead that is part of the same race. Some might say that I am crazy to run 26.2, but once you do that kind of thing, finishing is one of the best feelings of accomplishments I've ever felt.

I've been training for the past few weeks to do the half, but now I have to step it up a notch. I guess a lot of "notches". I wish I had a running buddy. Running at least 3-4 times a week at varying miles. One of those days are "long runs", which the most I'll run before the race is 20 miles. yes, you read that right:) So any takers???

Money Savers:)

So I just came back from Rite Aid today and they had some fabulous deals, plus I had coupons that were BOGO(buy one get one free) so it worked great. I'm still a newbie to all of this. I really have to plan out my shopping trips before I go. I found that if I put all the coupons together for one store it definitely makes checkout easier. I still take my freezer bag of coupons with me when I go to stores. I really need to get a coupon organizer. I'm sure people are probably thinking what in the world is this lady doing with so many coupons.

FYI if you don't get the Sunday paper ask around, someone you know probably gets it and throws the coupons away. I have a deal with my parents, but I am thinking of just subscribing to the Sac Bee on the weekends. Or you can get coupons that you can print from www.coupons.com, www.smartsource.com, www.redplum.com, www.pgbrandsampler.com, www.rightathome.com.
That's all of the sites that I can think of for now. Go take a look. You can get samples of products from these different websites.

One thing that I have learned is that when printing my coupons, is that I print one set from my laptop and one from my PC. Two different printers. That means double the coupons. Since my parents live right next door I'll go over there and print some up to. That's how I ended up with 5 $1.00 off coupons for Special K Blueberry and getting them for $0.49 a box.

Did you know that grocery stores have exclusive ecoupons on their websites. I got some great ones for raleys.com When I gave them to the checker last week, he asked me where I got them. I guess many people don't use them or even know about them. Check it out. Also you can get exclusive coupons from target.com Also definitely check out walmart.com for free samples of products. They ALWAYS come with manufacturer's coupons that can be used anywhere.

So the bulk of my shopping for the week will be at Raley's. They have some great deals right now through Tuesday night, plus with those deals I have tons of coupons. Anyone is welcome to come and get the extra coupons that I have if you want to use them. For example 8 identical coupons for Hamburger Helper or Toaster Strudels. Call or email me if you want them. I'm not really feeling up to listing every coupon and deal that I am going to be getting. The list is too long. Anyhow, check out raleys.com to see the ad and then the different places to print coupons. It's really easy one you get the hang of it. If you have questions let me know and I'll do my best to help you.

Don't forget that at Savemart, the Kellogg's deal ends this Tuesday night. If you buy 10 Kellogg's products(they don't have to all be cereal) you get $10 off instantly at the checkout and then make sure you ask for the rebate form. You will need to mail in the receipt, UPC barcodes and form and you will then get a $10 check in the mail. Not too bad. The unit cost for each product ends up being $0.98. Add in a few coupons and you are actually making money on the products you buy.

Happy saving everyone!

Quote of the week

Brianna and my dad(grandpa Faulconer) were swimming earlier today and Grandpa gave Brianna a kiss and how did my child respond....

"Grandpa, you can't give me a kiss because you are a married man!"

We have no idea where she learned that. She constantly is saying the funniest things.

Birthdays, disneyland, wedding, and a Sunday afternoon

We have had an eventful summer. We've spent lots of timing swimming next door at Grandma & Grandpa's pool. We are so glad that they have one that we can use when we want. Let's see back in June we took our first family Disneyland vacation. Kalen & the kids had never been. The plan was to go for 5 nights, 6 days, but Kalen enjoyed it so much he extended it a day. We chose to go because it was my 30th birthday and thought it would be a fun way to celebrate it. It definitely was. We are hoping to make it a yearly trip, since the whole family was able to enjoy it. Dylan really liked it and that's huge!
Kalen's cousin, Kevin got married on July 11th so we headed up to Brown's Valley, CA for the wedding. It was nice to be able to see the entire side of Kalen's, mom's side. We don't see them very often so it was a treat!
Next big thing that has happened is that Dylan just turned 6. yes 6!!! I can't believe it. Time has flown so fast. We had a small group gather to join in celebrating Dylan. We had lots of fun and we were very glad that most our family was able to attend.
So here's some pics of our family summer happenings:) This are most recent to farthest.
